  1. Just so you guys know, I don't mean to offend anyone from anywhere in the world with the "third world" comment. No disrespect intended and I know there are a ton of great developers everywhere that do not cheapen the industry..maybe I could have been more politically correct 🙂

  2. I am working as a freelancer (web developer) since 2013. I can say with my experience, all the points you mentioned they are correct and honest. This video will definitely help out new freelancers.

I personally feel that freelancing is not for long term. there will be a time in your life when you will be stuck. Technology is changing very fast. Client budget is going smaller and smaller. There is a lot of competition in the field. You have to compete for all over the world's programmers.

I think web developer should make his own product for sale. a website like a keyword generator, shopping cart etc.

  3. You are my inspiration for Web development…I am computer science student and I wish to buy some of your courses online especially on the front end technologies. What is your recommendation?

  4. Very helpful video, thanks!

BTW, when you mentioned "Third world countries", I don't want to point fingers, but India seems to be over represented in that category. When I signed up on sites like Upwork and Freelancer, it was dominated by Indians working at a cheap price. I don't have anything against Indians, nor am I being prejudice. I'm speaking from my experience (and I don't doubt anyone else feels this way), it is kind of annoying having to compete with people who work that cheap (most of who were from India) and it did discourage me at one point to where I was about to give up (on Freelancing on sites).

Also, don't worry about saying "third world countries or developers". Enough with this SJW nonsense. If people get offended, let them. This is America, we should say how we feel without people throwing a hissy fit. What you are saying though is true for the most part. Anyone can attest to third world developers offering to build software at a cheap price.

  5. I am am a struggling web developer trying to make my name in the industry, it seems though that everyone expects me to work for free and that is why my business is failing, in January I have to make a hard decision, unless I start making some money soon, I'm will be winding up my business which will kill me.

  6. Sir, I am from Pakistan.. and I want to ask something about Web development.. I want to ask that I am learning web development.. and as you know it has many small courses.. I learned Html at the first.. and now I am near to complete the CSS.. as you know.. the small courses have their a sequence.. I want to ask just this sequence.. after the CSS, I should to learn JavaScript, Bootstrap, php???

  7. This was great, been searching for "get a job writing subtitles" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about – Jeyeyton Riyria Process – (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my partner got excellent results with it.

  8. I just officially started looking for jobs today, my account on Upwork hasn't even been verified yet. I'm so nervous and worried I won't be able to make any money doing web development.

  9. Let's be real, those Indian "programmers" low-balling the market are hurting the industry. However, they are terrible at customer service, communication, and often extort their clients for more money throughout the project. Remind your clients of these pitfalls, and you'll be fine.

  10. I recommend the @GUAVABEAN Freelancer Group 🤗 for finding jobs. They post new jobs daily & it's totally free. The theme this month is TECH JOBS (includes web developers) 🙂

  11. Thanks for sharing your Pros and Cons of Freelancing. Be sure to check out the FreeeUp channel. They're a great resource for finding freelance opportunities as well

  12. This video was great. You are encouraging me to learn and move toward freelancing. How do find the work? Do you have a recruiter or an agency that send you clients? I’m just starting this side of technology, I’ve been in Telecom for 20 years and want a change. Thanks!

  13. I"m in a third world country and I didn't get offended because it's the truth. People here make their decision on who to hire based on who charges less, even if that means getting a crappy website. I also make videos and one time this guy calls me up, he wanted a video for this beauty cream he was selling and wanted the video to be like those Lóreal commercials BUT he could only give me 1,000 dollars, with the added attitude of "take it or leave it", give me a break. People think doing websites, videos, graphic design, etc. is just about sitting in front of the computer and 20 minutes laters, voilá! it's ready. I've been doing freelancing for 2 years now and if by the end of this year things don't get better when it comes to this trend of crappy clients (it's getting worse) I'm throwing the towel as a freelancer. It sucks because as an employee I can't get a good salary here doing anything, but I'm not a young guy anymore so I need healthcare. Anyway, like he said, freelance is definitely not for everyone.

  14. You're the best man. I would really appreciate a video where you discuss how you go into a brand new freelance job. Maybe your thought process starting out, how you plan out your time for example depending on the ask. More high level methodologies when starting out freelancing. Also what goes into being self employed at a legal level.

  15. I really have to spend all my savings on the bundle you recommend. I just want one more confirmation from u and i am going for it. i am fresh gtaduate, who is an introvert. Your or anyone else's advice will be highly appreciated

  16. Hey Brad! Thanks for sharing your experience. "Clients want me to build a LinkedIn by myself in 3 months for $1000" LMFAO Fuck outta here lol. Sometimes some clients are hilariously ignorant.

  17. Great video Brad. The question that remains unanswered for me though is regarding content management. Basically, does the client call you everytime they want something changed? Or do you build a CMS or use a CMS like wordpress?
