During the commemoration event held in Benin to honor the late Chief Anthony Akhakon Anenih, a revered politician and businessman, his son, Mr. Tony Anenih Jnr, emphasized his father's legacy as a principled and impartial Nigerian leader. Anenih Jnr, who serves as the organizing secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, highlighted his father's commitment to assisting individuals without bias.

The occasion, marking the fifth memorial anniversary of the Anenih patriarch from the Uzenema-Arue community in Uromi, Esan Northeast local government area of Edo State, drew attention from various political figures. Prince Clem Agba, a former minister of state for budget and National Planning, and a governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC), used the event as an opportunity to urge the Edo State chapter of the PDP to consider nominating Mr. Tony Anenih Jnr for the 2024 governorship ticket, emphasizing his qualities.

Anenih Jnr reflected on his father's success, attributing it to values of discipline and a non-discriminatory approach in his interactions. The memorial service at St. Paul Catholic Church saw Reverend Fr. Pascal Omolon praising Chief Anenih for his dedication to both the Nigerian people and the Catholic Church, highlighting his uplifting influence.

Dr. Sam Amadi, in a lecture honoring Chief Anenih, lauded his exceptional leadership qualities, emphasizing his significant contributions. Former Delta State governor Chief James Onanefe Ibori hailed Anenih as an authentic and trustworthy leader, earning him the moniker "The Leader."

The event was attended by notable personalities, including former Minister of Foreign Affairs Chief Tom Ikimi, former Minister of Aviation AVM Anthony Okpere, former Minister of Works Architect Mike Onolememen, serving and former senators from Edo Central, among others, who paid tribute to Chief Anenih's impactful role as a fatherly figure and a beacon in Nigerian politics.
