Most Reverend Mark Nzukwein, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wukari, confirmed the distressing incident involving the abduction of Very Reverend Father Thaddeus Tarhembe from St Ann’s Parish in Sarkin Kudu, Ibi local government area of Taraba State. The abduction occurred in the early hours as four armed individuals stormed the priest's residence around 2 am. This alarming news was shared through a statement by the diocese's communication director, Reverend Fr. John Jerome in Jalingo.
Expressing deep concern, Bishop Nzukwein urged the public and individuals of goodwill to join in prayers for the safe and swift release of Father Thaddeus Tarhembe, highlighting that the abductors are yet to establish contact.
Efforts to garner a response from the police regarding this disturbing occurrence yielded no results. Despite attempts to reach out to the Police Command in Taraba, the spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Usman, remained unresponsive to calls and text messages.
