Governor Aliyu Ensures Enhanced Welfare for NYSC Corps Members in Sokoto State

Governor Aliyu of Sokoto State, through a representative, assured NYSC corps members posted to the state of enhanced welfare and security during their service period. Emphasizing the crucial role of the NYSC in national integration, the Governor urged the corps members to uphold discipline and promote unity while assuring them of safety despite prevailing security challenges in the country. The inauguration ceremony witnessed the swearing-in of 1,430 corps members, with a focus on the significance of their role in the state's development and unity.

Sokoto State Governor Aliyu's Commitment to NYSC Corps Members' Welfare.

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, has reaffirmed a commitment to bolster the welfare of National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state during their tenure. Speaking at the inauguration of the 2023 Batch C stream 1 corps members at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Wamakko, the Governor, represented by the Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development, Jamiliu Umar Gosta, emphasized the historical significance of the scheme in fostering national integration and socio-cultural development. He urged corps members to uphold these values throughout their service.

Aliyu assured the corps members of prioritized security and welfare, irrespective of their posting within the state. "Despite prevalent security challenges across the country, your safety is guaranteed here in Sokoto State," he assured the attendees. Encouraging them to champion national unity aligned with the scheme's core objectives, he stressed the need for discipline, tolerance, and understanding among all Nigerians. The Governor emphasized their pivotal role as change agents in addressing the nation’s issues and challenges.

Additionally, the Governor advocated for the adoption of ethical conduct and encouraged corps members to engage and integrate with their host communities from the onset of their training at the camp.

Hajia Aishatu Hassan, Chairperson of the NYSC Governing Board and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youths, Sport, and Social Development, urged discipline among the corps members, highlighting the potential for receiving awards based on merit for outstanding performance during their service period. She expressed gratitude for the Governor's swift disbursement of state allowances to the corps members.

NYSC State Coordinator Alhaji Usman Yakubu Yaro underscored the regimented nature of camp activities, emphasizing the importance of discipline. The coordinator appreciated the collective support of security agencies, camp officials, and the state government for logistical assistance.

The inauguration, conducted by Chief Judge Justice Sa’idu Sifawa, represented by Justice Kabiru Ahmad, witnessed the swearing-in of 1,430 corps members, with 1030 hailing from Sokoto and 400 from Zamfara State.
