In a tragic incident in Bazai, a community in Bauchi State's Shira local government area, 25-year-old Ibrahim Ahmadu lost his life while trying to protect his wife, Amina Sani, from suspected thugs attempting to forcefully take her away.
According to reports, the incident unfolded as Ibrahim and his wife were returning from a Maulud procession and encountered two 20-year-old hoodlums, Awalu Idi and Habibu Buba, along the roadside. The assailants demanded that Ibrahim surrender his wife to them, a request he vehemently refused.
Bauchi State Police Command spokesperson, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, confirmed the incident, explaining that the suspects made an attempt to snatch Ibrahim's wife from him, but he bravely resisted their advances.
Wakil added, "Subsequently, the defendants persisted and ganged up against him, beating him with sticks on the forehead, resulting in severe internal injuries." Tragically, Ibrahim was rushed to General Hospital Yana, where a medical doctor pronounced him dead.
During the course of the investigation, the defendants freely admitted to their involvement in the crime. The investigation is still ongoing, and upon its completion, the suspects will be charged to court for their actions.
