President Bola Tinubu is set to play host to the Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, in a significant event scheduled for Sunday, October 29. This historic visit marks the first time a head of government will be gracing Nigeria since the commencement of the new administration.

As per the official statement released by the Embassy of Germany in Nigeria, the primary objective of the visit is to solidify the longstanding bilateral relations between Germany and the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Highlighting a diplomatic history of over 60 years, both nations, being economic powerhouses and the most populous on their respective continents, share a natural partnership.

The visit aims to underscore Germany's appreciation for the enduring partnership and emphasizes the pivotal role Nigeria plays in the region and globally. Chancellor Olaf Scholz is scheduled to engage in discussions with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and ECOWAS Commission President, Dr. Omar Alieu Touray in Abuja. Subsequently, he will proceed to Lagos to inaugurate a Nigeria-German Business Conference organized by the Nigerian-German Chamber of Commerce.

During his stay in Lagos, Scholz will interact with representatives of Nigerian civil society and startup entrepreneurs.
